PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The New England Highway widening project, spanning from Cooyar to Bum Bum Creek within Queensland’s Toowoomba Region, enhances road safety and optimises freight efficiency.
By expanding the road width and strength capacity, particularly for
B-doubles and heavy vehicles, the project boosts transport productivity and reliability.
The project additionally reduces travel time and maintenance costs,
ultimately fostering economic development in southern Queensland and the Darling Downs region.
JC CIVIL PROJECTS ROLE
JC Civil Projects was engaged by Projex Partners with the responsibility of delivering a comprehensive options and risk analysis for the options report. JC Civil Projects was tasked with providing detailed business case estimates and conducting thorough risk analysis.
This collaborative effort ensured a robust assessment of potential options and risks, providing a solid foundation for informed decision-making in the project’s development.
KEY DELIVERABLES
JC Civil Projects played a pivotal role in the options and risk analysis, which
included:

JC Civil Projects used first principles estimating and cost engineering, along with Expert Estimation software, to refine cost estimates. These estimates included direct costs, overhead, and resource calculations, while risk profiles were generated using @Risk software.

Employed Monte Carlo simulations for programming and scheduling purposes.
