PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) plans to introduce a new signalised intersection on Glass House Mountains Road, also referred to as Steve Irwin Way, at Caloundra Street in Landsborough.
This project is designed to enhance driver safety and decrease the
frequency of accidents by implementing various improvements. This includes establishing the new intersection, modifying lane configurations and storage lengths, upgrading lighting systems, and integrating provisions for efficient transport, such as signalised pedestrian crossings.
JC CIVIL PROJECTS ROLE
On behalf of DTMR, JC Civil Projects worked collaboratively with Projex Partners undertaking the progressive design preparation.
This included independent cost estimates at various stages including: 15%, 50%, and 85%.
Additionally, a Monte Carlo Analysis was conducted using @Risk software, aligning with the DTMR Project Cost Estimating Manual (PCEM). A supporting preliminary cost estimate report was also developed to support the projects financial planning and decision making process.

KEY DELIVERABLES
JC Civil Projects played a pivotal role in the detailed design phase of the project, which included:
-
Preparation of P90 cost estimates at 15%, 50% & 85% stages including direct and indirect costs, overhead and resource calculations, risk allowance and contingency
-
Preparation of the construction methodology and preliminary cost estimate report.
-
Preparation of the detailed program utilising Monte Carlo simulations and PrimaVera P6 software.
